WHS STUDENTS ACHIEVE UNPRECEDENTED AP EXAM SUCCESS

For the second year in a row, Wilmington High School is proud to announce record-breaking performance on the College Board’s Advanced Placement (AP) exams during the 2024-25 school year.  This year, 94% of all WHS AP students earned scores of 3 or higher, significantly improving on last year’s then-record 84%.

WHS students achieved a new record-high overall mean score (3.9) across all subject areas combined, as well as new record-high mean scores in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science Principles, English Language & Composition, English Literature & Composition, Microeconomics, Physics 1, Precalculus, Psychology, US Government, US History, and Modern World History.

WHS students' mean scores outperformed the Massachusetts state averages in Biology, Calculus AB, Chemistry, Computer Science Principles, English Language & Composition, English Literature & Composition, Environmental Science, Microeconomics, Physics 1, Physics 2, Precalculus, Psychology, Statistics, US Government, US History, Modern World History, as well as several other subjects completed through Virtual High School (VHS).

These results highlight the comprehensive and rigorous academic programs offered at Wilmington High School.  “The continued growth in academic performance reflects significant effort from both students and staff, and reflects the powerful collaborative learning environment that has been established at Wilmington High School,” said Principal Ryan Gendron.

According to the College Board, the Advanced Placement Program enables willing and academically prepared students to pursue college-level studies while still in high school.  The AP Program develops college-level courses that high schools can choose to offer and corresponding AP Exams that are administered once a year.
